It is the first time in Festival history that one composer has had two shows presented in the same year.

More from the official Festival Press Release:

The Global Search for New Musicals, aims to present the best in new musical theatre writing from around the world and is a key element of the Festival. Matthew Tossell, Managing Partner of Hugh James said, “We are very pleased to be supporting a unique initiative which nurtures and showcases creative talent from across the globe.”

Over 300 entries were submitted from all over the world – from Australia to Austria, Scotland to Singapore, and Wales to Japan. The high standard of entries made the task of selecting the final six musicals to be showcased a difficult one for the panel of six professional judges, including some of the leading voices in the theatre industry: Julia McKenzie, Billy Rosenfield, Donna Soto-Morettini, Chris Grady, Caroline Underwood, Susie McKenna and Sally Rapier.

The new shows, chosen through an anonymous, three-stage selection process, will be staged in one of two different programmes, each programme containing three showcases of 45 minutes each. The programmes will be open to both producers and the general public."

A HUNDRED YEARS INTO THE HEART was honored by the Spirit  of Broadway Theater at a gala black tie event hosted by Artistic Director Brett Bernardini. The show won awards for Best Book (Richard Vetere), Best Lyrics (William  Squier), Best Score (Jeffrey Lodin), Best Ensemble, Best Performance by a Lead  Actor (Nick Dalton as Sal Greco), Best New Work and Best Production of the Year.  It was the first time in the 8-year history of the theater that a new original  musical had won the Best Production award.

A HUNDRED YEARS INTO THE HEART was featured in the showcase BOUND FOR BROADWAY VI at Merkin Hall in New York City. November 28th, 2005 at 8pm.

From the Merkin hall website:
Over the last five years, Bound for Broadway has become one of the theater world's annual must-see shows for its presentation of new musical theater works, many of which have gone on to see great success (the Tony Award-winning Avenue Q was featured in the first Bound for Broadway). It is one of the few venues available to up-and-coming writers to present substantive portions of their new works in a concert format. This allows theatergoers to preview new shows and provides a rare opportunity for the audience to hear from the writers themselves as they converse with host Liz Callaway. Furthering the Kaufman Center's commitment to educating audiences, Bound for Broadway also explores the process of creating musical theater works, informing the audience—many of whom are aspiring writers themselves—about the obstacles and achievements involved in developing new shows.

Performers included Deborah Tranelli (Dallas), Mark Lotito (Jersey Boys), Charma Bonnano (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change), David Bonnano (The Light In the Piazza) and Nick Dalton (Hairspray - Las Vegas).

REBELS 1775 was the featured presentation on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the annual New England Theatre Conference in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The invited audience for the event included the conference's Keynote Speaker Jon Kimbell, Artistic Director of North Shore Music Theatre, and veteran actress Betsy Palmer, along with theater professionals from the Boston area.

Authors Mana Allen, Jeffrey Lodin and William Squier performed selections from the musical's score and discussed the development of the piece with moderator Brett Bernardini, Artistic Director of the Spirit of Broadway Theatre.
